Hi. I am new to linux. Over the years I have tried various forms of linux. But I never can install the basics (Flashplayer,Realplayer,Quicktime etc) So the kids can't use their sites so I end up going back to Windows for a quiet life. I've now installed a second harddrive on my machine I can browse the internet fine. I am using it now(Fedora Core 5)Does anyone know of a good Linux book/guide or website that could help me. I know way round the inside of a computer but I am not very good with software. Or is there any Linux class in east/city London?
Thanks Joe
Thanks Joe
You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

I used this website when I first upgraded my FC4 to FC5 for a quick guide..
http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html
And there're other guides too but mostly they're repeating the same things:

This wiki is really very helpful to answer many of the how-to type questions.

And as always, the best to ask Fedora questions is at:

Check out http://www.linux.org/groups/united_kingdom/england.html for a list of UK Linux User Groups, there's probably one in your area0

Worth a mention is that the Ubuntu linux distribution has a Automatix script that automates much of the extra installation problems. (Codecs, flash, java etc.)0
