Returning a PAYG phone back to Argos without a receipt - have bank statement?

Options
Basically the screen on my Samsung G600 is refusing to turn on, when I turn it on the keyboard lights up and it vibrates upon start-up but I can't see anything. Anyway I had originally bought it from Argos as a PAYG but stupidly didn't keep the receipt. It is under the original 12 months manufacturer warranty (and I presume I have to go through the original retailer?) But I have a bank statement that shows me spending £129 at Argos (i.e. the phone) and then 30 minutes later buying £10 credit from T-Mobile. Is it possible to use a bank statement in lieu of a receipt? I presume it all stands on "reasonable proof". I mean, can they even prove they gave me a receipt? I just wonder what I should say other than "pretty please accept this as proof :o"

Many thanks x

Yes, using a bank statement or credit card statement should be perfectly acceptable

  • Bank statment should be fine; also Samsung handsets have a 2 year warranty.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Just to warn you that Argos don't replace/refund phones... they send them off for repair. Be prepared to be without your phone for a week or 2
