Puerto Calero - Are the bars and restaurants expensive?

I have found a bargain week at the 5 star Hesperia Hotel in Puerto Calero in Lanzarote.
Whilst it is a great price for a 5 star, spending extra on the hotel means less in the budget for spends!
We have a 5 1/2 month old baby so we won't be out on the razzle every night but I wondered if anyone had been to Puerto Calero Marina and could tell me if the bars and restaurants are expensive?
I am worried that we will run out of money half way through!!
Any help appreciated.

Yes they are more expensive than most other Lanzarote resorts. That's probably partly due to the fact there is significantly less competition than others due to the small size of the resort. There are a couple of cafe/pub style places that serve limited menus. Avoid the colonial looking restauarant at the end furthest away from the port if you are on a budget!
Overall I found Lanzarote expensive earlier in the year, mainly due to the exchange rate and the fact most food is imported from mainland Spain.
Saying all that it's a great island, just make sure you hire a car and get out of Puerto Calero, you'll find it a bit cheaper elsewhere.0 -
Have you had a price for half board at the hotel? The last few times I've been to the Canaries, the cost of upgrading to half board was very reasonable, certainly way less than we'd have ended up spending in a restaurant.
We like traditional fresh local food on hols, which is not always easy to come by in the tourist areas in the Canaries. We were happier to compromise, pay significantly less and just pick and choose from the hotel buffet in the evenings. A bottle of wine in the room fridge and a stroll out in the evening and a nightcap in a pavement cafe kept DD and I happy!
Are you hiring a car? We stayed in Iberostar Costa Calero at Xmas 2007. It was a very easy hop by car into Puerto del Carmen. At the time, Puerto Calero was quite limited, although I'm sure it has been further developed since then.0 -

What's not traditional about a proper British greasy breakfast while in a Spanish resort? From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0
