How long do i wait

My dads bday was the 13th Aug, i saw a dvd i knew he'd love, so waited for it to come out and then bought it off ebay on the 20th. My mum agreed that he'd love it so not to worry about it being a late bday pressie.

Bought and paid on the 20th Aug and had reply from the seller saying thank you for your purchase, we will send confirmation of when its posted.

No confirmation email sent, so emailed them beginning of the week, no reply, so sent another email Friday asking if it had been posted and when.

All i got was a replying saying it had been posted to ...... (my name/address) so sent another email back saying could i please know the date it was posted, haven't heard a thing.

The dvd is going to Australia and i really expected to have it by now and had posted it myself off to my dad in Australia.

Looking at the sellers feedback every neg/net he has got is to do with delivery, taking 2 -3 weeks sometimes.

The listing said 'seller dispatches within 3 days', but im yet to know whether they did or not.

Do i just sit and wait?

I'd open a paypal dispute for item not received (you can after 7 days) That might get his attention to communicate with you

It stays open until you either close it on safe delivery of item (always check it isn't a pirate etc before canelling dispute) or until the buyer proves delivery or refunds you in full.

This sounds like a drop shipper, you may find the DVD turns up from Play or Amazon or something.

  • Am giving them 1 last chance to reply and actually answer my q (when was my item sent, what date) as they've only confirmed it was posted.

Went to actually file a dispute with paypal this morning and interestingly a message came up from the seller saying to contact them and all issues can be resolved quickly before going ahead with a paypal dispute. (yeah right)

So like i said, didn't go any further with the dispute, emailed them again, but for the last time about it.

I don't get what they won't answer emails as every day they leave feedback for buyers so surely that means they're on ebay every day, or maybe its auto feedback.

Just ignore that. I always think that people who set up those messages have had to due to the amount of disputes that have been started
  • So i've had a reply again, but again it doesn't answer my q. All they've said is that it was posted last week and should be with me by now, if its still not arrived they suggest i go and check its not at my local sorting office .

Every email i have sent, i have actually asked what date it was sent and they won't tell me.

Why would it be at the local sorting office, its a dvd, it will fit through my letter box, the postman isn't going to leave a card saying its too big for the letter box and it was sent 1st class mail, so not recorded.

    Time to paypal dispute now????

Just up to a dispute. They will have to prove it has been sent or refund you in full. Sellers rely on the ignorance of sellers to try and get out of stuff like this. End of the day you paid for it and you expect your product. If its lost in the post then its up to the buyer to claim their losses not you. Its good to give a few chances for sellers to sort the problems out but don't be taken advantage of.
  • Ask them to send you proof of postage? It may have got stalled in the post, but they should be able to prove postig it to you. If you don't recive the goods it's up to the seller to reimburse you. Ask for proof of postage and threaten to open adispute and leave negative feedback. That can seriously affect a seller's reputation so it might get them moving...

There is no need at all for sellers to prove postage and I probably wouldn't muddy the waters here by asking as it achieves nothing. Also, never threaten negative feedback as that might be seen by ebay as feedback extortion and it may then be removed.

Just go straight to a full chargeback and stop corresponding with seller unless through the dispute console.

Decided to go and check for my dvd at the local sorting office, but went with the feeling of, will go and check to prove a point and also because the seller asked me, so that when i do a paypal claim i can say i checked at the local sorting office, like asked to by the seller.

So i told the man at the sorting office that i didn't have a card to say something was here, but just checking because i am waiting for a dvd thats been 12 days now.

Never did i think he'd come out with a pile of mail, 5 items in fact, all tied together with a rubber band.

2 dvds, anti virus scan, headphones and best of all my parcel from Australia thats taken 3 weeks to get.

Was told that the postman has probably took 1 look at it, decided not to deliver it and leave it out for the van driver to deliver, who is probably off sick or on holiday so its just been left to accumlate even more.

The only item that wouldn't fit through a letter box would be the headphones, everything else would of got through. In fact we got a dvd last Thurs through the post, so why not try and deliver all the other items.

Here i am annoyed at the seller and my item is sitting amongest 4 other items on a shelf waiting for a van driver to deliver it. The man couldn't tell me how long everything has been sat for and only 1 packet had a posted date stamp on it, so unsure when the others were posted.

    :mad::mad::mad:

He told me to put a complaint in, as they do themselves, but he said its getting more and more frequent that people are coming into the sorting office without a 'you were out card' and just a drivers licence just on the off chance items are here and more often than not, they are.

How pathetic is that, my item from Australia would of been returned to my parents pretty soon if it was left on the shelf any longer. I shouldn't have to pop into the local sorting office every few days on chance mail is sitting on a shelf for me....
