Letters sent with insufficient time to respond

Is there a term for the practice of sending letters with insufficient time to respond? In particular letters containing threats such as "if we have not heard from you by xxxx we will consider your case closed" or "if you do not contact us by xxxx we will consider that you agree to renew etc...". Especially letters sent with one week response time over a bank holiday and with no telephone number or email provided.
And does anyone know if this practice has ever been successfully challenged? (I've tried googling it with no luck, maybe I'm not using the right search terms).
Apologies if this post is not in the correct thread, this is the first time of posting anywhere.
Thanks.

I would imagine they have little or no legal grounds (and would be deemed unfair in any court), as it is unreasonable to send a letter and expecting a response to be received in X days, when there is no postal service on most of those days.
I suspect a court might agree 7 working days is fine, but say 7 days from dispatch not (as that potentially only allows 2-3 days to respond and get it posted back).0 -
