Nicca keep preaching, we all forget things

Afternoon all, hope everyone is well.

I have been away from here for a few days and I have done something very stupid and I need someone to give me a wake up call, I can't believe I have been so stupid and wreckless, I started the online bingo after I read about it on here, well I spend the free initial deposit and after winning a few times, I got the bug and deposited and spent over £400 in the last week:eek:, What am I going to do, no-one knows, I have never gambled in my life, why why did I do it? I know there is only one winner and thats not the person gambling but the company running the bingo site.

Didn't know who else to tell, my OH will flip if he finds out, I have some of the money to put back into the current account about £150 as my mum gave me a wee gift at the beginning of the week to treat myself with.

I'm sorry I haven't read the thread lately.

Hi chippy - nice to see you, hope you're well:)

Hi washer - I can't tell you not to beat yourself up about this, because I think you will anyway, and I'm not great at advice - Tixy or Numpty are better at that. The only thing I will say is that you need to learn from your mistake and not go there again. Every one of us on the DFW site has been stupid at some point or another, or we wouldn't be here, so we're all in the same boat. Hope you feel better for telling someone now and sending you a big hug 6.gif

Aww Spoon, I like your hug! Washer, you only need to read my diary to see I continue to do stupid things on a daily basis! The kitchen salesman debacle was particularly daft and I felt sheepish for ages! Then I realise the horrible salesman was trained to get me to do what I inevitably did. Just as the Bing site is geared towards making you think it'll be ok to have another wee go.

Ban yourself from the site, thank the stars your mum gsve you a wee gift, and if you feel up to it, do tell your OH. I say that 'cos I don't want you to let the guilt eat away at you. If you don't then that's fine too. That's why we're here.

Take a deep breath, dust your self off and jump back up onto the DFW wagon. Mistakes are easy to make. We just need to try and learn from them :). As my dad would say, "it's character building". (Though, yes, I admit my retort has often been "I've enough character thanks!") A big squashy hug from me!

    Hi Chippy

Hi Washer - oh no, its so easy to get hooked in isn't it? Is it going to leave you very short this month? will you be able to cope with paying everything you need without OH needing to know?
Perhaps you can have an even more frugal that normal month with regards to groceries etc. At least your mum's gift will help, although I guess it wasn't the treat either she or you wanted you to have.

Can you think of any extra ways to pull in some cash to make up for it? overtime? anything you can sell? its almost carboot sale weather? or even daft things like seeing if there is a credit on your gas & elec accounts you can asked to be paid back?

I'm sorry you feel disappointed with yourself and like the others I suspect no matter what we say you still will but it really isn't the worst mistake any of us have made. Try to feel pleased that you have stopped now and that you have 'confessed' on here, which will hopefully stop you doing the same again. Have you closed down your account on the site?

Remember its these things that make us human so don't beat yourself up about it please.

Washer - what the others have already said.

I have read lots of people's posts saying how stupid they have been, and I always tell them the same thing - you think your stupid? Well, I have a degree in Stupidity from the University of Stupidity in Stupidtown. At least I have learnt that for myself, and am spending the rest of my life trying not to repeat past mistakes. You hit the bingo site looking for an easy way to make some cash, and you got sucked right in there. Now you have admitted your mistake, learn from it and avoid such internet sites in the future. Unless you can be really creative with your budget over the next few weeks, I think your OH will find out there's a problem. If he does then you will have to deal with it when it happens, but you know all of us on here will lend moral support and a collective set of shoulders to cry on if need be. Move on from this and let this experience make you a stronger person.

Hello to any new posters and lurkers. You are very welcome here. If you need help start a post and we will do our best. If you come across a troll (see the message below) then please ignore them. There are times when the board gets quiet so if you don't get many responses don't give up or take it personally, just check back a bit later on

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P
