Afternoon all...we definitely need a smug git smilie - I got up at 6am this morning as I was due to go to a breakfast meeting followed by another meeting but at 6.30am rang the guy I was supposed to meet to cancel giving the feeble excuse that I didnt want to drive in the snow - I also had a horrid feeling that the road through Studley wouldnt have been gritted and certainly not the lane leading to the hotel:eek: I am glad that I made the right decision as it was snowing hard by 9.30am and I guess we have had a couple of inches with another 10 forecast for tonight:eek:

Went to bank earlier (just Lloyds across the road and down a bit) and came back looking like a snow woman. Have to go out to quacks tomorrow so may walk and then I have a meeting in the city centre at 2pm (a bus trip and a fair bit of walking) but I shall wear my brushed cotton jeans and my snow boots and a jumper and my nice warm jacket and a hat.

    Stay warm and safe folks.

Arrggghh ..... just lost the post I'd nearly finished...

Hi all, you've been busy since I last visited..

Tixy - hope you're home safely by now

Horace - wise not to go to the meeting today and good luck for tomorrow

Nargle - congrats on the MSE anniversary 6.gif

    Numpty - lovely photos.
Great news you've got your gas bill sorted :j:j:j. You must have been freezing without the heating on, hope you're OK now.

Bye all, try to stay warm and safe in these conditions.

Evening all! Winter draws on......(or is that drawers?)

Numpty - chuck another chairleg on the fire, you can afford it now!
Horace - saw your post on Wol's thread re Bicester shopping village - have been there a couple of times as have family living a few miles from there. Enjoyed the most wonderful calves liver and sauteed potatoes in Carluccios once, and OH reckons their pasta is bellissimo. Trouble is, you do need a bit of dosh to shop at the village, so it's a once in a blue moon trip for us DFWs.

Tixy - happy anniversary to you as well, seems like we've been burbling away on here for a lifetime but it's only a year!

Rog, wherever you are, mind your trundling in this weather!

Talking of smug git mode, the Christmas decs are now down, packed and in the attic!
Chill-out vibes to everyone, but hope the trolls freeze their doodahs off.

    Hi all,
Quick bump just to say be careful to anyone who has to go out tomorrow - roads are treacherous.

Take care all (apart from the trolls who can quite happily freeze their doodahs - and every other bit of them - off)

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

    Morning everyone ... stay safe!
