Problem updating Garmin

Hi - help needed please.

I've spent all day downloading the software etc to update my Garmin Nuvi 200, which successfully installed on my laptop (I think). However, it doesn't seem to have transferred to the sat nav as I got an error message saying not installed correctly. It also said something about starting up again but not sure what is meant.

Does anyone know what I need to do next please?

Thanks

Anyone please? Otherwise it's a call to Garmin to talk me through it.

  • In these situations I generally remove the software and start again.

Are you talking about Mapsource or another piece of software.?

You will not be able to contact Garmin until Monday now.

Well I followed all the prompts to install the downloading software from the website (took all day for the initial stage) and got as far as the final stage of uploading from laptop to Garmin. I thought it had finished so disconnected and restarted the Garmin (as per instructions) but when it was reconnected via USB (as indicated) I got an error message saying updates hadn't uploaded.

I've just had a look on here and can only find an application
garmin_rmu_cneunt2010 3.03 gb. Does this sound like I've at least downloaded the software? Are these the updates or just the software do you think?

I could uninstall and do it all again, but it did take forever in the first place.

    Thanks

Ah this might be the problem. I used the side USB port and didn't turn off anything first. Thanks. Do I need to uninstall and start again from scratch?

  • You do not need to download it again, if you used Save on the previous download option, just re run it again.

You can try just installing it over the top of the previous install and if that does not work, then uninstall and reinstall.

    Thanks for the advice.

I just turned the firewall off and reran it and it installed with no problem. I'm not sure if the firewall was the problem or if I disconnected it too soon but this time it went smoothly. Thank goodness with the inflated cost for regular updates!
