Returning Ebay item to a shop

I'm bidding on an item of clothing that is BNWT from a certain chain store. After trying the said item on in a local shop I now realise that i'm a size 12, not a 14. The item i'm bidding on is a 14, just wondering if anyone else has ever taken an item back to the shop and exchanged it? Am I morally in the wrong?

in my opinion if the item was bought from one of their shops then its ok to take it back to swap, as far as they know you could have bought it and lost the reciept, the problem comes when people buy/have broken things and fake items and do this, if its definately brand new i dont see a problem morally.0

I don't think there's anything morally wrong at all. If it's a simple exchange with the same item, perfect condition for another size it's fine. It doesn't cost the shop anything and you get the right size.0

Ok, lol I just hope the item comes in the condition that the seller has stated. If the listing says brand new with tags, then they had better mean it!0

Check the returns policy of the shop though, many require a receipt to exchange goods, there is no automatic right to refund or exchange just because something doesn't fit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd question why the seller hasn't done this themselves. Stolen goods?0

You might find the label is cut to prevent returns. You could cancel your bid.0

I can exchange without the receipt in this particular shop, i'm fully aware that I'm not entitled to a exchange automatically. The seller is a powerseller selling lots of brand new clothing with all the tags, but I did wonder how they can be selling the item so cheaply. I've assumed they must know someone who gets a big staff discount. They have said that the labels haven't been cut so if they are then I would be able to return it to them as SNAD0 -
If it was bought on staff discount could have an S on the label, ive often bought clothes on ebay and it has got either a cut in the label, making on the label or on the tag!. I would just cancel my bid and buy it in the shop i think, lot less hassle!!0

I think i'll risk it for the £20 saving to be honest, will see what happens, if all else fails i'll just resell it on Ebay0
