John Lewis Branded White Goods. . .any good?

Thinking of replacing an Hotpoint Dishwasher and a Washing Machine. The 8 year old Dishwasher is on it's last legs, had two leaks this year and is IMO starting to overheat on the high setting. Washing Machine is 6 and just about gets by although had a leak only last week.
Anyway, I'm looking at the idea of replacing them with a couple of the John Lewis branded units. The price seems solid, the warranty (and extension) good. So what are they like? In the website blurb they go on about being German technology? Does that hold up in real life? Who really makes them?
I'm happy to go into a store and haggle for a discount on both together or a warranty deal. . .anyone tried to do that?
Ta for any views/reviews.

You get a 3 year warranty on JL large appliances anyway. I don't know who makes them, but JL have a strong brand image to protect and I can't imagine them selling stuff under their own name that isn't of decent quality. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi
John Lewis white goods are re-branded Electrolux, Zanussi and AEG products. Like all things you get what you pay for.
In a nut shell - if you want a washing machine and a dishwasher and you can afford it, go for Miele everytime, they are the cheapest in the long run. If not Miele then Siemens or Bosch, probably better value than the JL products. Then the JL products and AEG stuff comes in at devision 3. As for devision 4 - mainly all the rest of the Italian products (including Hotpoint) you can forget.
Good luck0 -
I have a JL freezer, it's made by Electrolux and has broken down several times. However, customer service has been excellent - just before it reached the end of the 3 year warantee, JL wrote it off and let us choose another product instore.0

Saying JL appliances are "German technology" is a bit like saying the same for Skoda. Just because someone makes their products for them, doesn't mean they are the same quality...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Thanks for that. . .who provides service for them? I presume a contracted third party.0

I presume it will be Service Force (or Farce, depending on the engineer you get) , they deal with all the Electrolux group servicing and repairs...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Hi, I had two bosch dishwashers & then bought a John Lewis one. As much as I love JL, the machine was rubbish. I couldn't wait to replace it with another Bosch.0

In what way was it rubbish? . .Didn't clean well? Broke down? Noisy? Something else?0 -
It never seemed to get anything clean. We constantly had to put items back in for a second wash. There was always cereal still on the bowls & spoons, however we loaded it. I was glad to get rid of it.0
