Please does anyone know whether region 4(Australia) dvd's play on a region 2(UK) dvd player? It is common knowledge that 1 & 2 are not compatible.I am selling some region 4 dvd's,but most friends i know have all region players, so i cant tell if there is a problem. Thanks

Region 4 will not play on region 2 players - all is not lost as there are software hacks that will allow region 4 to be played on british bought players. Have a look here0

no they willl not work unless the player is region free and there are regions for dvds
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Resevered for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
Going a bit OT, how did the powers that be decide which country would go in which region group? For example R2: Europe and Japan? Not exactly close by."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

i've bought loads of Region 4 discs that play on my Region 2 player, has been a much cheaper option than paying the prices over here. I was worried as well that they might not work, and that I'd have to go buy a enw player (one of the £30 ones from Asda) but it worked straight away... wont play region 1's though, but hey, region 4 is good for me.
ended up buying an Asda one anyway so that it would play DiVx stuff....£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -
Region 4 disks are PAL whihc is the same as the UK and yes alot of R4 disks do say they will play or R2 as well. I think the version of Moulin rouge i have is R4+R2
I have a multi region DVD player anyway so it doesnt matter.0
