Assuming a buyer has a mortgage in principle and the bank's valuer has visited the fancied property, can anyone give an idea about how long it is taking banks to issue a mortgage offer and then complete the transaction (assuming no major hiccups from elsewhere )these days?

After the lender's survey was carried out, it took only a couple of days to issue the formal offer which was then signed by me by return of post...For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

We had our survey completed last Tuesday, received the report Thursday, got the mortgage offer Monday, exchanged today and move in on Wednesday.

Recently sold late MIL's house. Survey within a week, buyer had mortgage offer 4 working days later. Completed within 5 weeks of accepting offer, which could have been a little less but we were on holiday for 2 weeks in the middle.EdInvestor wrote: »Any reports from Abbey or Halifax?
Buyer was very committed though and pushed everyone from lenders, solicitors - even us! :rolleyes:0
