Aww Arty, i'm sorry to hear that. That was really out of order what they did - mocking your daughter, that is not on. I would make a complaint, no-one should be treated like that. I'm an over protective mother of two young children but i think you have to be. I don't have alot of people i talk to where i live and i would tend to come onto forums and put up my worries and concerns too. Don't worry about what others say. She's your child at the end of the day and you don't like to think of anyone hurting them. XXX0

And the money saving message was 'dont bring marmalade in your hand luggage'!
You have my sympathies Arty, security at airports would be much easier if the personnel learned some diplomacy! I have had my fair share of bad experiences with them too!0 -

Aint it far from the exit tho??0

Paddy2eyes is absolutely right - you get 15 mins free in the short stay car park at the city airport.
cant see what the fuss is about as it is only a very short walk to the terminal anyway.
and if you do need to stay for longer for whatever reason all you have to do is drive out before the 15 mins is up and then drive back in again!
at least it isnt like the international where you have to park in the short stay to pick-up and be charged a £1 for the privelege if you are there for under 30 mins.0 -
slippyg easiest thing to do is park at the bridge before the airport get whoever you're picking up to ring you as they collect their bag and you'll be straight in and out of the 15 min free period when you meet them at the pick up point which probably isn't much more than 100 yards from the front door - reason theres no pick ups is because of the bombers at Glasgow airport BHD would be a similarly easy target
to the OP lodge a complaintNorn Iron Club Member #64

The problem with the parking is that the whole thing ceases to be an 'in and out'. Like snowmen says, someone potters into the 15 min stay... then out and back in. Busy time of the day and that little area fills up, not to mention the access to it!
As for the pull in to the old city airport entrance. Well this has introduced a new hazard to the bypass. Not only do you have this lane are overflowing out onto the bypass when it is busy, but we once again have volumes of traffic pulling across oncoming traffic in order to access it.
As for the issue with bombers.... that is moot because all one needs is a taxi and a £1 coin.Always overestimating...0 -
x12yhp had a feeling you may reply after me lol
overflowing on the bypass? fine park in Tesco Knocknagoney/Sainsburys/Holywood Road....
I'll take your word on the taxi and £1 coin ;-)Norn Iron Club Member #64

You obviously missed the post I made some weeks ago. You could go through security the normal way... alternatively, you could go upstairs into the eating area and turn left, through the double doors, down the stairs and come out the far side of security.
You'll be referring to this particular post; http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=22593419&highlight=#post22593419
If you bothered to check back for replies you'd notice that I and another person pointed out the slight inaccuracy in your comments. The airport layout has been reconfigured to make the restaurant area behind security. The stairs were still in place yes but, at that stage, they hadn't been removed. The area was, nonetheless, perfectly secure. Well done though for spreading inaccurate information around the Internet.
To the original poster; you did right to come on here and vent your frustration. The airport staff's behaviour was appalling. We may be at the mercy of security staff but that doesn't give them the right to be offensive like that. It's a real shame she didn't report the person concerned on the spot. Such behaviour really sickens me and I very much doubt you'd find it anywhere else other than Belfast.0 -

Not absolutely right sadly.... it's 10 minutes.0
