Moss on north facing roof - concrete tiles

Hi there Folks,
We are hoping to buy a 1960s house that has a concrete tile roof. Surveyor suggests we need to clean off the moss (lots of it!) on the north facing (front) roof.
Does moss damage concrete tiles? Or is this the usual surveyor cover yourself thing? We do think surveyor is good (used for 2 survey, first was a nightmare and we are very glad we brought him in) so don't want to dismiss his recommendations out of hand.
If it's likely to cause damage to the roof obviously we would prefer to remove it.
How necessary would you experts out there think it is?
Maggie

Will add extra weight to roof structure and retain moisture also.Should be able to get it jet washed off etc.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0

Concrete tiles must weigh a ton anyhow, can't see that moss can make any difference!
Assuming its a pitched roof, it will not be too damp as it will drain so this seems a bit pedantic to me. I have a tile roof with lots of moss, it just falls off in bits every so often, its never accumulated over the last 18 years... suspect your surveyor is just covering himself. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
The extra weight will practically have no effect if the tiles are fitted correctly and if you manage with the snow on it fine
Surveyor is covering himself but he should have explained that as well....
All my working life ive worked with concrete , love and hate the stuff!0 -
Thank the surveyor for his kind suggestion: Ignore it & get on with more important parts of your life...
Cheers!

Moss is a pain in the ars*e. We have it growing thick on some roofs north facing and even a bit on the south side, though the tiles are not concrete in this case. Have removed in the past but it still comes back.
It doesn't appear to be a problem for the roof all told, though the gutters get clogged up when it comes off during heavy rain.
Lets be honest, if you watch Grand Designs, the mugs on there pay thousands to have green stuff planted and growing on their roofs to make them environmentaly friendly and eco! So why complain if you already have the stuff for free!
Think of the insulation qualities! (The EPC's are missing something here)
