Not tusre if this is the correct place or not but you guys have always helped before.
I'm selling my wedding dress on Gumtree and have had an email from someone asking to buy it as a quick sale and can I send them a paypal request with an extra £100 added on to cover the postage costs to West Africa.
Unfortunalty I have already given her my paypal address before she told me it was going to Africa.
Does anyone else think this is a scam......

Not much experience of this but l know there are a lot of scams that do come out of West Africa - we often get warnings about them where l work

Definitely, don't touch it with a barge pole. My BF got stung like this once on eBay, he received the money, sent the item and later on they managed to do some sort of chargeback so he lost the money. Paypal were useless as they are always on the side of the buyer.

Ummm doesn't sound too good really
I would be a bit wary? :j0 -
Thanks guys.
I've e-mailed 'Anne' back saying that if her request is genuine, she will understand why I am a bit wary and that since she lives local, she can come to collect it and post it to her daughter herself.
Wish I hadn't given her my paypal address now. There is nothing in it at the moment but I am thinking of changing it incase something happens in the future.
I have 4 things ending on ebay though so will wait till after that.
Damn those internet scammers! I had my hopes built up there :mad:Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

It's a scam I'm afraid. Check out the current Friday Ad thread, it is the advance fee scam.

Yep definitely a scam! I too am selling a wedding dress on Gumtree at the moment and had the very same request..........apparently this person 'Jane' wanted me to send the wedding dress somewhere ridiculous as a surprise birthday present for her friend. Ive had so many of these in the past that I got a bit peed off this time and so they got a colourful response from me, not that they could actually understand it.0

Tell her to send the money through Western Union... That'll shut her up!The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I got a reply telling me to 'get to the post office asap'.
I marked it as junk and blocked the sender.
So glad I had my wits about me to know it was prob a scam. I keep checking my paypal account incase they try to hack into it. How can people be so nasty.
Thanks for all the replys though guys :T:T:TOfficial DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts
