Hi , Does anyone know if i need a new clutch or could there be another answer why i cannot reverse gear sometimes .

Usually it takes 2 or 3 attempts to get reverse all other gears are fine.

Any help would be great i don't want to spend a fortune on a clutch if that is not the problem.
Thanks

SAME AS RENAULT MASTER ( CONVERSION TO MINIBUS )

this van and the nissan primastar and vauxhall vivaro all share the same parts, they are the same vans and as yours is mini bus. there is apparently a common fault with the gearboxes in these, it seems to occur around the 100,000 mile mark, apparently it is a fairly easy fix but the gearbox does need to come out, apparently they are fairly easy to get in and out.
i know someone who runs a fleet of these and they all seem to go around the same mileage.

Actually Goldie, the Renault Master is completely different to the Primastar and Vivaro. The Renault version of the Primastar and Vivaro is the Trafic. The Renault Master is pretty much a unique vehicle, although it's possible it could share some components.

Searching on the internet seams to imply renault masters have a gearbox problem one person claims to have had 3 gearboxes within 46,000 miles so i think that rules out the clutch but leaves me with maybe a bigger problem!

ahh, well spotted vik, i just got too excited earlier on!
i doubt the master has the same gearbox as the trafic, the trafic (and the other variants) have a 6 speed box, im not sure if the master does?

The local gearbox specialist charges a fortune we have used him before twice through desperation ( needing a vehicle back quickly).

Will have to ask around, we are in Oxfordshire if anyone has any recomendations!

Common problem in the Grand Espace too. As it too shares the same gear boxe etc... It's a simple fix, however the box does need to come out. Which at about 6 hours labour could work out to be dear...
