Cleaning inside of washing machine?

Hi All
OH is a mechanic, and my washer is starting to prove it lol
The rubber seal has a "flap" that folds over it and it's collecting water and stinks of oil/grease etc.
Was just wondering the best way to clean it?
Watched How Clean Is Your House the other day and tried their thing of white vinegar and hot wash but it didn't do much
Any suggestions?

Hi there,
We had someone in recently to repair our washer and he suggested we regularly run round the rubber seal with a damp cloth and a little bit of neat washing up liquid.0 -
thanks for that....will have to give it a go....I do wish he'd leave the contents of sumps at work! LOL;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0

Cupful of soda crystals (NOT caustic soda) on the hottest wash, preferably with extra rinse.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0
