Calculating the Cost of Gas and Electricity
Hi,
This is my first post. I've just switched to British Gas Websaver 3 from nPower and to keep an eye on the costs of my gas and electricity I spent ages making this spreadsheet.
I've compared the figures I get from the spreadsheet to my first bill and it's bang on. It takes into account the tiered pricing system for both gas and electric.
The only parts you need to complete are the bits in blue - date, electric reading and gas reading (in m3 as it converts automatically to kWh). To the right are some figures in Italics and if you're going to be using the spreadsheet then you need to put your own tariff prices in here - Tier 1 Price and Tier 2 Price for gas and electricity (this has to be in £'s though, i.e. 5.345p/unit needs to be typed in as 0.05345).
Any questions, stick a reply on here. It's been really handy for me, I've left my last few readings in to show you how it works. It's interesting in that you can take a quick reading one day and see how much you've spent since the last reading. I'm just trying to give something back to this site which has helped me so much over the past year or two.
I've tried posting the link but it won't let me because it's my first post so I'll try to put it in a reply...
