DFS cream leather sofa cracking on the seat

I got a cream leather sofa from DFS 2 years ago, its been really well looked after, cleaned with the stuff they give you only, and I've noticed its started to crack alittle on the seat where I usually sit, tiny cracks that make it look as if its dirty if you can imagine what I mean?
The rest of the sofa is fine where the kids sit etc, is this normal?
It was a very expensive sofa, which I justified as I expected it to last a good 10 years at least. Do leather sofa's usually do this?

Good leather sofas don't. Ours is almost 10 years old is wiped over with a damp cloth every now and then, but no special treatment whatsoever. No cracks yet, no cracks on my mum's either.
The leather may stretch and creases may collect dirt, but the top surface shouldn't crack.
DFS sell sofas at a cost which is expensive, but this isn't the same as them selling expensive sofas.0 -
OK thanks for that, I will get them out to look at it, as I have 6 months left to pay and its insured.£100 - £10,0000

We had a similar problem with our red leather DFS sofa. We used the cleaning fluid supplied by them in the instructed way. The leather started to almost peel, leaving the leather looking discoloured and dirty.
I phoned DFS and they sent someone out who looked at it and suggested to us that the fluid that we had been useing was not good and suggested we didn't use it anymore! A damp cloth was all we should need. He then made a further appointment and the leather was replaced and coloured to match in our living room.
Everything has been fine since.0 -
Please think twice beforte ordering from DFS - very poor quality, just look anywhere over the internet. Even their sales staff say 'well I know they are not the best quality'!!!!
A friend has a 6 month old sofa from DFS and it looks more like it is at least 6 years old.
And on my order form, the actually hand wrote 'leather will stretch and crease, cushions will soften with use'!! (don't ask - they didn't actually give me a copy of the paperwork when I ordered it, they said they needed to post a copy of the order form).
I have just bought the sofa from DFS as I am currently replacing a cat damaged (it is a mess on the back of the chair and front) 3 Seater Sofa and Chair bought from Winchester Furniture 7 years ago, and is in perfect condition, with the exception of thread bare patches from the cat, hence replacement.
This is their 'get out' clause - please be aware.
Can't cancel order, as I signed agreement in their premises, but please think seriously and ask people who have bought from there... No 28 day 'cooling off' period etc, and the sale will not end tomorrow either! Don't make same mistake as me :mad:0 -
If people took a little time to do some research before going to places like DFS they would soon find out that they have a very poor reputation for both quality of their goods and customer care, there is plenty in these forums and on the internet about DFS and other similar companies.
Unfortunately hindsight is a wonderful thing and until people stop going there they will continue in business and the complaints will keep on coming.0 -
all the major retail park type furnishers are expensive, and not very good quality either.
the mark ups are huge due to the very high overheads.
buy low, sell high is their motto.
dont be a victim.Get some gorm.0 -
