Between me winning & paying for item, seller has received lots of -ve feedback :/

Bought item from seller in Hong Kong with almost 99% +ve feedback. I could not pay for it straight away, as I was lacking the funds required.
7 days later I had the funds and went to pay for it, but I noticed that sellers feedback % had gone down from 99% to 91%. I was curious so clicked onto the detailed feedback and noticed that there were about 10 new negative feedbacks from different buyers. They were all for recent purchases and were along the lines of 'not as described' 'seller sent me 8 instead of 20 items' 'seller sent me empty box' 'Thief' 'Do not trust' etc.
The item I bought was at a bargain price and I really want it!!! but I am starting to have my suspicions about whether the seller will try and scam me too. As it's coming from Hong Kong it will probably be recorded delivery so if I got an empty box there wouldn't be much I could do.
But if I don't pay for the item I end up with an unpaid item strike.
Any suggestions?

The % isnt really whats important its what the negs actually say that will give you a better idea of the sellercandyflossing wrote: »Bought item from seller in Hong Kong with almost 99% +ve feedback.
If its at a bargain price and from Hong Kong or CHina the chances are it could be fake. If its only a small amount of money you could take the risk. If its a lot I would take the Non paying bidder strike and leave it. If it sounds to good to be true it normally iscandyflossing wrote: »The item I bought was at a bargain price and I really want it!!!
You've more chance of getting Shoddy good or no goods at all than the empty box. If you got an empty box take it to the police and report it then you can use this in the paypal claim.candyflossing wrote: »if I got an empty box there wouldn't be much I could do.
I avoid both China and Hong kong for buying as its very hard to find good sellers and those so many fakes out there its really not worth the risk0
