Income support help

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I was receiving Income support every two weeks when I was remanded in prison due to my solicitor messing up and was released after 5 days. My income support was stopped on the 30th July because I was in prison and I applied for a rapid reclaim on the 6th august. After a million and one phone calls I finally received a giro on the 26th august dated from the 6th august to 26th august (the back dated money I was due as I hadn’t received a payment since 29th July) the thing that’s confusing me is that I was due a payment from the 26th to the 9th of September and when I phoned income support they said no I was due a payment on the 9th so basically I got £211.10 to last from the 6th august to the 9th of September surely that isn’t right.

Income support is paid in arrears, isn't it?0
-
Yes, so you're not due to be paid until the 9th - the last day of the period for which benefit is payable.0

Income support is normally paid in arrears rather than in advance, so that is correct.
Are you under 25? As £211.10 works out at roughly 4wks and 1 day @ the under 25 rate for IS. If you did a rapid reclaim and were still entitled to IS while you were on remand, this works out at about right (assuming your last payment covered up to 28th July).0 -
Thnks for the replys i'm 28.0

Hmmm... Weird amount then - not sure how they've reached that figure!0
