I can have a look at the weekend, all I remember is it was a milky blue colour, fairly thin liquid and was relatively expensive.

Hardibacker will take approx 45kg per sqm, Compared to plasterboard that can take 32kg per sqm

Plasterboard can hold up to 32kg/sm when screwed to a wood/aluminium frame.

When it's dot and dabbed with plaster that redusecs the load carrying capabilities to the adhesive bond of plaster which is 20 kg/sm therefore not suitable for travertine.

12mm Travertine is a floor tile and should not be used on walls unless a suitable substrate is used (tile backer board i.e. hardibacker or aquapanel).

Fundamentally we get 12mm thick product as this is produced for America at a thickness of a half inch (their standard for a floor tile requirement) so it's designed for USA spec. It's not cost effective to produce 8mm - 10 mm for the UK market which is relatively small, so we get a stone that's over thick for our uses.
