i have had a complaint with bt going on for a few months now, i joined the company in feb 07 my direct debit was set up for 64.50 a month, so 193.50 and my broadband/line rental came to £84 a qurter with the rest being taken for calls. i have lost all my previous bills apart from a my most recent 2 but my problem is my average call charges per quarter are around £35-£40 so i want to know where my money is goin, i have emailed over and over again about this, and am told can only see last few bills as the rest are archived, can they refuse to show me all my bills?

. . . . . can they refuse to show me all my bills?
Apparently they don't.

have had a few email conversations, and they wont give me any balances, have just got off the phone to the indian based call centre (rude, arrogant and if they dont know an answer hang up on you) and they have told me i need to pay for each bill, when all i want is my call charges0

If the bills are archived or not then you will have to pay £4.70 to have a full copy of each bill.
Sounds like you have the dreaded monthly payment plan (monthly fixed payment and quarterley statements)
The monthly payment you make is not a true cost of your monthly charges its an average charge more of a standing order than a direct debit.
Just change to monthly whole bill dd and pay for what you use each month in full.0 -

If you are on monthly payment plan and are paying more than you need you should have a credit balance on your bill.0 -

Just like Bank charges !
£10.00 is the cost to supply a copy of call recordings and any account notes this does not include bills as they have already been sent.0
