M&S &more card application - dilemma!

I am wondering whether to take a gamble on my application for this card being accepted.

I want to buy 2 sofas in the M&S sale which ends tomorrow, total cost £1800. If I dont buy them tomorrow no deal as I am no way paying full price.

I need interest free credit to do this and one way of doing it is to buy them on my existing credit card and then transfer the debt onto a 0% balance transfer card. I am expecting a lump sum within 6 months which should pay the whole thing off.

I have applied for a 0% balance transfer card in the shop but the application was referred to head office. I suspect this is because I recently moved house as I have an unblemished credit history and recently was approved for a large mortgage.

If I am turned down for the card, I will either have to fund the purchase through overdraft or short term unsecured loan.

What to do? I am blinded by sofa lust and cant decide! are there any other options?

if your credit rating is good ,you are highly likely to get the card.M&S don't give you a credit card in the store there and then when you apply(unlike most shops when an assistant goes to make a phone call and you get instant credit). All M &S applications are sent to H.O. where the credit is decided and then you get your card within a week or so.

you can find out there and then about instant credit. I work for m&s and you can only get instant credit if you are buying furniture. yes the application will be sent to HSBC, not m&s HO as m&s do not own the financal side of the business anymore.

we did want instant credit for furniture.

we went in the shop wanting to buy the sofas on 0% credit over 24 months and were told that we would have to get an &more card. when the girl phoned through our details to "head office" she came back and said we would have to do a postal application taking 7-10 days.

by the time this is done the sale will be over and they said they couldnt hold the sale price after tomorrow : -(
