MBNA/A&L New number for chip'n'pin

Just received a new chip'n'pin card from Alliance & Leicester (MBNA). They've changed the card number! (Previous card was neither lost nor stolen).

Bit of a nuisance - any other issuers doing this?

I'm 99 per cent certain that any 'one off' bill payment you make to an MBNA card whose number has changed from when the payment details were set up will still go through OK. Remember that you quote a collection account and sort code [Bank's collection a/c, which won't have changed] AND your old 16 digit [or digit 10] card [or acc] number as 'reference'. They are still able to marry up the previous 'reference' given with the new one as this is performed 'on reciept' rather than when sending payment
