:jThe well known American long distance bus line ' Greyhound' is commencing operations in the UK from September 14th.
Initially there will be two routes. London Victoria to Southhampton and Portsmouth. The services will operate an hourly frequency and fares start from £1 plus a 50p booking fee. You can purchase tickets online at www.greyhounduk.com.
The coaches used will have only 41 leather seats ( plenty of legroom ) and will also be equipped with wi-fi and power outlets. Free newspapers and a loyalty scheme.
I have checked out the website and there are plenty of £1 fares still available.
Greyhound hope to roll out more destinations in 2010.

Looks interesting - but on close inspection of the Greyhound UK website, it is just FirstGroup using the Greyhound brand. I hadn't realised that FG actually owned Greyhound.

"FirstGroup is Britain’s largest bus and rail operator and is already one of Britain’s biggest scheduled coach operators with over 250 vehicles operating under a variety of brand names. It purchased Greyhound in 2007 and has been operating the company in the US and Canada since then. First is evaluating plans to roll out new Greyhound UK services from 2010."0
