Hi
I have windows vista & dont find it that easy to use & preffered xp.
We have 2 standard accounts and myself as the System administrator.
When I am doing normal tasks that require Administrator approval whilst I am in my standard account, a pop up box appears requesting my approval as administrator - I allow the action & continue doing what I want to.
But in Uninstall program, I get a message which states the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation, and then I am told I dont have sufficient access to uninstall the program. Please contact your sytem administrator - which is me. I have searched through all the help and support but cant find a method to start the uninstall process as system administrator. I know in that if I right click on any of the programs in start up menu I can run as System Administrator but this doesn't work when trying to uninstall.
Any advice will be gratefully received, as its driving me nuts!

Hi yah,
I found this website which tells you how to activate the Vista Administrator, which I belive will solve your problem :-

I think you can also right click the mouse on what programme you want to run and on the pop up box run as system administrator too.
Only if you don't want to turn on administrator in full. Microsoft see this as a added security benefit.0 -
Hi
Thanks for your replies.
The right click option does not work on Programs & Features (Vista), which you usually have to use to Uninstall or Change programs.
However, many thanks littlem00 the computer performance instruction worked like a dream. I now have a separate Administrator login box password protected, which I will only use for making adjustments to my laptop programs etc.
Once again many thanks - this site is a lifeline for the non-techie nerds like me!:T0
