Hi All
New house so had 2 go through BT to be connected to the exchange for a new phone line and number. 12mththe contract, as soon as that was up I changed service provider, ie P.O. for phone and internet. That was December last year. 8 months later I get a final demand from BT for £25, ok not a lot but I queried it as I'd not received a final bill in the post. I contacted BT asking them for a copy of the final quarters bill, nothing arrived. Then a final demand or we will send in the heavies. I called again explained and asked for a copy of final bill. U pay quarterly in advance, I reckon BT owe me. No copy now the debt collectors are sendin me threatening letters. Any suggestions? How come BT waited 8mths following me cancelling my contract, to demand final payment. Is there a time limit in which they can reclaim unpaid bills, not that I owe. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

A debt is a debt for a long time (6 years IIRC) but your reasonable request for a copy/explanation of the alleged debt should not have been ignored.
With luck, BT company representative will spot this thread (your title should help!) and offer to look into this for you.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Hi rporebski,
Will you PM your BT account details and I'll take a look at this for you.
Many Thanks
Donna
