Couple of Questions about EON Products
I am researching moving tariffs, as like a lot of people on here at this time, my EON Price Protection v14 tariff is finishing on the 1st October.
Comparison sites show some of the EON tariffs and in particular the "saver online" traiff to be comparable to the best available out there, and the Tesco clubcard points and customer service make them a positive case. But I have some questions before I commit, as my brain aches. Our house usage for gas for April 08 to April 09 was 4039kwh and electric was 3212kwh, and we are in the CM1 area:
1. Am I correct in thinking that the saver online tariff rates can go up or down (i.e. not fixed).
2. My next bill is due on the 22nd September, and the tariff finishes on the 1st October. Do any final discounts apply to my bill?and do they apply to the bill on the 22nd September or a bill on the 1st October. I have to admit this business about the final bill discounts has confused me.
3. Given my usage, what is the approximate difference to my bills if I move to the "saver online" tariff now? Can I wait, tariff availability permitting and swap on the 1st or 2nd October if the difference is not favourable. Again, I get slightly confused here, so could do with some guidance on whether I should move on the 1st or 2nd?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there - I am in same position to you and would like to know the answers to your questions too. I'd like to know if the saver online tariff is subject to price rises if eon announce price rises across the board and not to a specific tariff. I'm tempted to go with the saver online tariff as it cheaper than eons new capped tariff and I dont anticipate prices going up anytime soon.0

The current trend is for price cuts all around, particularly for Gas:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/energy/oilandgas/6100536/A-new-age-of-cheap-energy-approaches.html
Therefore no-one should really be considering fixed tariffs at this time, as they are priced higher than the other online tariffs.
There is not that much risk of prices rising, so what are you fixing to protect yourself against that is worth paying a premium for?0 -
Hi Knight :hello:
Just a point to remember first of all, capped and fixed are different things it looks like this is getting confused.
Fixed means prices will stay at the unit price you agree, even if prices go up or down, capped means the unit price will not go above the price you have agreed to but if the prices decrease the capped prices will drop as well.
The prices customers are being offered after their capped price ends, is another capped deal not fixed.
Hope that clears things up a bit
1. You are correct in thinking that the save online tariff rates can go up or down (i.e. not fixed or capped)
2. You will receive your discounts as normal, changing tariffs does not affect this. Final discount does not apply when you close an account altogether, (change supplier)
3. You can wait until the 1 October to see what tariffs are available for you then, if this would help, you can even go on to the new capped for a while and change if you feel this is no good for you. Contact E.ON and ask them to do a comparison on different tariffs for you, see what the outcome is.
Hope this helps a bit.
