Just a slight rant about Comet Card's automated telephone service!
I have a Comet card which I used to purchase a TV on, it was a good deal, with 12 months interest free. Recently Comet have been calling me every other day to ask if I want payment protection and to be covered for identity theft. I have told them mainy times, no thanks, not interested. I have just called their automated number and entered my details to make a payment. I have used this before and normally you put your card number in and how much you want to pay and never speak to a person (which suits me fine!) Anyway tonight the voice tells me there is a problem with my account and i'm being put through to a customer assistant. I'm on hold for 11 minutes which doesn't improve my mood much! When I fianally get to speak to somebody, there isn't a problem with my account they just want to try and sell me their bl**dy products again!! I could have screamed, all I wanted to do was make a payment! I just interrupted and said all I want to do is make a payment, after all this faffing about I make my payment after spending over 15 minutes on the phone!!
Why do companies pester you to buy their products, I get calls often from either Sky (do I want to buy a repair plan - no!) Comet (payment protection or identity theft cover - no!) and numerous credit card companies!
Sorry for the rant, i just want an easy life and not to be bothered all the time!

doesnt payment come out as direct debit? why did you call them to make a payment?
if they annoying you then put phone down
as many times as it takes
then they cant record you ranting at them
its quite satisfying doing this - cos you know its annoying them more than its annoying you
and you wont buy anthing from comet in future. will you?0 -

Yeah, I pay the minimum payment by direct debit, but I sometimes pay extra if I can afford it!
I think in future I will send any extra payments through the post (cheque) and next time they ring I will hang up on them!
I don't think I will use Comet again, but I'm a little worried that now they have my details they will keep on ringing me!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

You have my sympathies, OP!
You can ask the specific company not to call with marketing offers. If possible, send a letter stating you'd like to be removed from their marketing lists even though you wish to remain a customer. If they call again following that, note the time and date and send an official complaint.
Did this with (as you mentioned) Sky. They did call again, but I sent a second letter and was given the Sports Mix for free for one month as an apology0 -

if you have a current account or any type of account it would be far easy if you did online banking and transfered the additional money that you wanted to pay each month to comet
btw look forward to your hefty phone billl as a result of the 0845 number unless you have those included at all times of the day0
