What software is she using to download things?
By clicking on a link in a browser, via FTP or by using a file sharing client like Utorrent or Limewire?0 -

Well for a start, she shouldn't be trying to install AVG while McAfee is still installed. You can only have one AV installed at once, installing one over another will result in many problems.
Remove McAfee fully using the removal tool , only then should she install another AV program. AVG free is not a good AV program anyway, Avira is much better for a free program, or Kaspersky for a paid one.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Sorry but this is't making any sense. She's got a new laptop which presumably came with a trial version of McAfee (it's maybe a Dell?). So she shouldn't try to install AVG whle McAfee is still installed.
If there is no internet connection present, then how can she she get a message from the AVG website saying that there is no internet connection detected?
How about other websites-can she use youtube, BBC iPlayer etc, other sites which involve downloading? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Get the lastest skypee and her the same. cause they have a new feature where you can see like a webcam her screen. then you can talk her through or see what shes doing. OK if she can't download or have skype get her to email a screenshot, have to talk her how to do that too maybeSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
