Help I have no money?

Options
I got made redundent in May, and have been trying to sort out my PPI since then, so I have paid my mortgage, car, loan and credit card for the past 3 months, and can't afford to this month, I have less than £200 in the bank and over £1000 of bills due to come off on the 1st of Sept.

What I was wanting to know, is that when I get my PPI sorted, will they repay the money that I have paid to my bills, considering that I was insured for those 2 months.

If not, what is the point in PPI if you can't clame for months.

Please help, do I have any rights at all.

Also, I have a job interview next week, but its only for a 4 months fixed contract, so if I take it, I won't be able to claim my PPI again after the time is up. Does this not send out the wrong message, that it would be easier to not work than to work.

Id love to take the job, and it would be a great job with great experience for me, but Im scared of having to go through all this again, especially with no redundency available.

With my PPI I had to stand the first 30 days, and then they started payments. the first payments were late, due to the time it took to process the claim. First payment I was entitled to then was at the end of the second month of my redundancy.

I enquired as to what would happen if I took a temporary job. One of my insurers said that they would not cancel my claim, but it would be put on hold. when the temporary contract finished they would re-commence my claim. the second insurer was not as helpful, and just said my claim would stop and they would look into it again at the end of the temporary contract.

It would be best for you to give them a ring and see how you stand.

Good luck with it all. It is a nightmare I know - I've been through it, and still am:confused::confused:
  • Thanks, I think I made the mistake of waiting a while to claim, I was told I had to wait for 15 days before I could get a claim form, then I had swine flu, and that was the last thing on my mind for a month where I slept constant. Not to mention that for that time I could not claim jobseekers or get an ABI1 form.

Another quick qustion, all my bills are due to come off on direct debit, should I cancel them, I dont want for them to pay my bills, but for me to then pay as well, or will they not take any money out of my account.

I think they make it so hard to claim so that people don't bother doing it, but Im making sure I get it paid, Ive been paying the insurance for years and never used it.

    Thanks again

It really depends what insurance you have. My mortgage PPI is paid direct to me, and then the mortgage is paid from that. They do not pay it direct to my mortgage lender.

My car finance is paid direct to the loan company.

Give them a call - my insurers are pretty good at answering my constant queries
  • Thanks I phoned them to ask about taking temp work and 2 of them said they would just to my claim on hold and then start it again when the contract ends which is a big big help. I just cancelled my direct debits, except for the car, cant live without that. Should hopefully have a job next week, just hope I can find money to get me through to Edinburgh every day for the month before I get paid. I took out the £200 as well.

    Thanks

fairygirl, if things really are terrible then do as marydot has suggested and get in touch with CCCS. They are non judgemental, they are non profit, and they really do change people's lives. I'm not in debt myself but my sister was and thanks to CCCS her and her OH can now afford virtually everything they want and their debts are being paid off in manageable instalments. They have 2 cars now, their own house, 2 children, holidays every year, and they are comfortable. She learnt by her mistakes and now won't have anything on credit (shame she has never followed my example as I have never had anything on credit and I don't have a penny of debts) but honestly, those people are fantastic.

    Good luck hunni, take care!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

URGENTLY cancel those direct debits if it's not too late as well. Simply because your bank will charge you for them bouncing and you'll get charges mounting up all over the place, so much better to cancel.
