When comparison sites go bad (or just confusing)

Not been on this board before but hopefully you can help.
On October 1st I come off my E.on Energy Saver capped to Oct 09 rate and will automatically go onto the E.on Energy Saver R1 rate protected until April 2011.

I have used this new rate and my existing rate when using the comparison site recommended by Martin.
I have used my kwh per annum figures to calculate the comparison.

Heres the weird bit, all three sites have said that my current annual expenditure is around 500 pounds and the new expenditure will be about 311 pounds.

Sounds great except it can't be right because so far this year Jan09-August09 we have already paid over 600 pounds and owe another 138 pounds.

So either
a) I've input something wrong
b) E.on have been taking more money than they should
c) energy prices have dropped so low that it really is possible to heat a 3 bedroom house for 20 quid a year.

Any suggestions?

our annual gas kwh is 442
our annual elec kwh is 3670

Your gas usage must be wrong. Have you converted your gas usage from either cubic metres or cubic feet in to kwh? The average annual gas consumption is 20500kwh
  • As stewie said, it sounds like you have the gas usage wrong.

I've been doing the comparison as well as my tariff is ending in October. I am shopping around and had British Gas at my doorstep today sniffing around claiming to be the cheapest and best for customer service.

    Thank you

That is exactly what I'd done, or not done as the case may be.

All sorted now, and a new deal chosen

    Thanks again

    :eek::eek::rotfl:

They came second from bottom in the recent Which customer satisfaction survey on energy suppliers - just ahead of npower. Nuff said.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Thanks for your reply Carmine

I'll come clean now and admit I work for eon. However I have only registered purely as a customer and not to represent the company, we have reps on here who do that.

It was my hubby who answered the door to the salesman. I told him that last I heard, BG weren't top but he believed they may have changed since I last heard anything. However, your post has just confirmed what I thought was right. I'll show him when he gets back.

I recognise that not all people have problems with them though and there are pros and cons about all companies. Unfortunately we received bad service from BG nearly 9 years ago so I refuse to go back to them.

Hubby has said he will leave me to make the decision though as our current tariff with eon is coming to an end anyway. Can't you tell I wear the trousers in my house :-D
