I am in reciept of HB even though I still own the old property. It is in negative equity & I put it up for sale too as NR still hadnt done repo....its now been 16 months since I last paid the mortgage. (sale finally going through too)

Call the council & find out the criteria for HB/CT benefit Dollparts...or go see your local welfare rights officer...they are brilliant for seeing what you are entitled too....I know its all very daunting.

I've taken a deep breath, watched an episode of CSI Miami and am calm once more.

I think I will just go ahead and make the LHA application as soon as I have a copy of the TA to support my claim and let them process it.

The trouble with dealing with so much at the same time is that certain situations impact on another even though they are technically separate-and then you have the added drama sequencing the steps in which you do things.

I will adjust my SOA taking into account the worst case scenario (ie a delay in claiming LHA) and see how it looks.

I'll post it when I'm done and maybe someone will have a look please?

That is all we were asked for! I ticked that we did own property but in the 'any other info page' i explained that we had handed back the keys as we were going bankript. They wrote to us asking for the privously mentioned info, which we provided and they wrote back to say our claim had been accepted. Each council is different though so i would give them a ring first!

Big hugs first - you have had a huge amount to deal with and your doing great honestly..i know its hard especially facing it alone - but please hang in there and we are here to support you..your a member of our little albeit virtual family now..:grouphug:

i owned my house and got housing benefit - i ticked the box and gave info about it being up for sale, provided estate agent details etc - got 6 months CT exemption.
so i guess if you fill in the form and add in a letter explaining, plus a copy of the recorded delivery letter you are going to send to your mortgage company sending back the keys it should be fine well worth a shot

Thanks for that, sometimes I just get overwhelmed with everything that's going on-I've got to go to court today to swear an affidavit for my divorce, then to hospital for oxygen equipment because I have low oxygen levels when I sleep at night because of an obstruction-and on top of this BR and moving aargghh!

The slightest hint of a hiccup sends me into a panic-I'm working on staying calm and deep breaths......:)

It does help to know I can post here, you kind people have been my backbone through all this. I am so grateful for all the support you have given me xxx
