I put in my request to get my bank charges bank with Abbey, I received the standard letter saying the account was on hold etc
But also included was a "telephone complaint form" This form looks like its an internal form used when people call in and complain... fair enough.. however its not mine, its got someone elses details on:-
it has there name, address, account number, sort code, date of birth, account history, what there claiming for, how much, what was said on the phone, and much much more
If I was this person I would not be a happy bunny, if I was a bad person I could open an account up with these details easily.
just goes to show that your details arnt always safe!

You need to complain to Abbey first of all because it is a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998. (make abbey aware of the next point below)moneyspender1981 wrote: »I put in my request to get my bank charges bank with Abbey, I received the standard letter saying the account was on hold etc

Secondly, send the details onto the person it was meant to and put a note into the letter stating that you were sent their details
thirdly, complain to the ICO

I had a National and Provincial mortgage. When Abbey took over, I couldn't wait to get away from them. I recall making an insurance claim with Abbey back in the 90's. Had to threaten Abbey with legal action.0 -

I had a N+P mortgage as well,at the takeover, when I sold the flat I noticed my profit was £150 less than I expected.Abbey took my final months payment twice, once thro my direct debit and again thro the settlement figure. My lawyer had to contact them about it,when they repaid it the cheque was dated the day after the house sale, this was 6 weeks on-I wonder how many people they have tried to con this way ?I have a deep burning indifference0
