Had accident in car advice on if i will be covered

Last night my boyfriend had an accident in our car it was his fault as he went into the back of someone. Details were exchanged and no one was hurt.
His morning we rang our insurance company and started the ball rolling with the claim and this afternoon they rang us up and said they are sending a truck out to pick our car up in the morning to take it to garage and we will get our curtosy car. Then tomorrow afternoon the person dealing with our claim would come see us and we needed logbook, driving licence and MOT to show them

And this is where my nightmare starts we have no vaild Mot on the car we have made the stupid mistake of thinking our mot was due on 31st of month and it was the 21st
I have spent the last hour trying to ring the person who is dealing with our claim and they have finished for the day.
will my insurance be void because if it is i cant afford for they to tow my car because they will charge me for that and the car they are giving me and we would rather save that money to put towards the other drivers car been fixed.
any advice would be fantastic i am pulling my hair out here
sorry for long post

As long as the car was roadworthy you'll be fine, although if the car is a write-off the settlement will be reduced to take into account the lack of MOT. If the car was not roadworthy and this contributed to or caused the accident then you could have problems.

There should not be a problem unless the car is in a serious state of dis-repair and would have seriously failed an MOT and that failure was contributory to the accident. The main problem is that if the car is a write off its value could be considerably less without an MOT.

It shouldnt make any difference really. Whenever i have had to make a claim i have never been asked to provide my driving licence, MOT cert. or proof of rgistration unless they check these things internally of course. but i dont think so, so stop having nightmares. Wait to see if they mention it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Maybe you haven't but it looks as if the OP has been asked to.

Thanks for your replys i would class the car as roadworthy it was ex condition before last night only done 4000 miles since last mot and passed with flying colours and i know that the car is not a write-off my dad fixes cars and he says its not as bad as it looks but does need bumper, radiator, crossmember (or something) and new bumper and number plate.

Thanks for the advice but dont really want to wait and see if they mention it
the tow truck is coming in morning as well as courtesy car then adviser coming in afternoon and she asked us to have logbook, mot, and driving licence ready.
my worry was if she then turns around and says its not insured we will be billed for tow truck and courtesy car they are taking the car to a vauxhall garage to be fixed and i no i cant afford there prices so would also end up paying for tow truck to bring it back to my house. and thats before i pay for the other cars damage and my damage.

Ignore any muppet who posts that your insurance is invalidated if you have not valid MOT. Even if you insure with one of the handful of insurers out of thousands that mention a valid MOT being required then it's something that can be overturned by making a complaint to the FOS.
