is it me - dates all over the place!!

I downloaded a windows update recently after which i get the message on startup that i may have a counterfiet copy of XP and gives me the option to purchase a bona fide copy - which i haven't, since then however my daughter can't get onto word on her account - deep stress as she is a student, though OH and I can on our account. Also i am looking for a holiday (more stress) and when i go to pick dates it brings up like 2001 and every date with airtours is too late even though they are in the future - i don't know if these are connected or not and i'm technically thick so can anyone shed any light on this at all please
