Polo 1.2 or C3 1.4
I know, they are like chalk and cheese! We need a replacement 2nd car (old N reg Citroen ZX just about falling to pieces). We are looking for another smallish car as son will be able to learn to drive next year (so insurance is also an issue). DS 16, DD 13 and one lab retriever. Mainly to be used for travel to work.
Have the chance of an 03 polo 1.2 with 9000 genuine miles on it and aircon etc, or a C3 SX with around 20,000, both at the same price (just under £6000). Obviously paying a premium on the smaller engined Polo for the marque.
Anyone got anything to report on either car??

Polo without a doubt. VW quality is not what it used to be, but will be better than a C3, and will feel better quality so will add to the feel good factor of having a new car. Also the Polo will retain more value so you will get more for it when you come to sell.0

Thanks K9cuddles and plane_boy2000 - that's the way we are leaning too. Going to test drive them both later. Fingers crossed no-one beats us to it!Taking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0

Of course the Polo - no contest. Like plane_boy said, it will retain more value long term too. Would see if you can try and get the newer shape one though (I think they look much nicer

:j Got the polo :j
Went for a test drive and loved it. Nice tidy 5 dr car, with plenty of legroom in the back for the teens and the dog ..... almost too nice for them:D
And, bonus, its even cheaper car tax than the citroen.
Thanks for your thoughts, everybody.Taking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
If you REALLY want a Volkswagen (remember, they're NOT built like they used to be!!) Can you wait a month or 2??
The NEW VW will be heavily promoted & should be available for around your budget http://www.vw.co.uk/new_cars/fox it's as big as Polo, inside anyway, & it'll have VW reliability - if you think that means anything, these days!!

Thanks for that Vanboy ... but we can't wait. The citroen is shedding oil faster than a freshly fried haddock!! I drive to work each day in terror of breaking down! :eek:Taking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0
