Electric garage Door

Hi my garage door has recently broken and needs to be replaced so i thought i might consider getting an electric one with a remote control. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get one of these installed and which company is good? I live in Kent. I know there are loads of types but i was just wondering what the cheapest remote controlled garage door would cost to be installed. If anyone could give me a rough figure that would be great. thanks.

you can buy a kit for about 75/150 quid. and itll take a handyman a few hours to fit it.

I have a double electric door . so cant give you any real idea of prices
But would think that ormus was just quoting for the motor plus lifting gear.

I had a replacement last year and chose an option costing £500 ( two remote's)
again just for motor and chain track.

OP, this assumes that you already have an up and over type door suitable for automating?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I have a remote controlled roller shutter door, painted which cost around £750. I am in south wales so would imagine prices are a fair bit higher in your neck of the woods.

Decent one is £175 to £250, and took me a day to fit properly.

I currently have a regular garage door, can those be automated without replacing the original door? I am planning on getting a new door aswell.

What do you mean by 'regular'? But if you are replacing it anyway it won't be relevant.

Up and over doors have to types, retractable and canopy. Retractable are the easiest to power.

if your replacing your door anyway i would get a roller shutter door

much better door than the up and over type

and they don't take any space up in your garage
