Help please! I cannot open any Word documents

I am running Vista Pro and have used Office 2007 for about a year without any problems. Suddenly (for no reason I can fathom) I cannot open any Word documents (neither new documents nor existing ones). If I try to open a Word document the window opens as one expects but the little circle thingy just keeps spinning and the message at the top of the window says 'Microsoft Word (not responding)'. Publisher, Powerpoint and Excel are all working normally.

Can anyone help please?

Can you open Word first from the programs menu, and then try opening a document from within Word?
If not I would use your MS Office disk and do a custom install to reinstall just Word.

Thanks for the quick reply. No I can't open Word from the programs menu - I just get the same 'not responding' message whatever way I try to open it. I will do as you suggest and try and reinstall Word - now I just need to find the disc. We moved house last week and are still in chaos surrounded by boxes! I assume reinstalling Word will not affect all my saved documents? Do I have to uninstall it first?

Nope. You may not even need the disc - refer to this for details.

Nenen, if you can't find your MS office CD, then download & install Openoffice, it is really good at opening damaged office files.
