Comet, faulty Vax

Options
Hi, bought Vax Vaccum cleaner on 18th May and its not working properly so phoned sticker on product and they said check usual things. Did that but didn't fix the Vax so returned it to shop today. They phoned Vax and said Vax want us to send it to them for them to asses. Leaving me without vaccum cleaner for 3 weeks. So i said not fit for purpose want refund as i have receipt. Also said my contract is with Comet not Vax but they were having non of it so I had to leave the vaccum cleaner with them. Are they correct ? what can I do ? got 3 kids (crawling baby)and dirty carpets. Help!!!

You have to give them opportunity to fix it. As for sending it to Vax, well, the shop should do that for you really, at their expense. But you understand Comet can't fix it personally!
  • yes they r sending it to Vax. Not happy they didn't replace / refund. Thought that was what I was entitled to. Thanks for your comments.

Within 6 months it is assumed that it was faulty at the time of sale but the seller has the right to assess the item to prove that it was. Vax act as agents for Comet.
  • I think you should be able to borrow one whilst yours is in for repair - 3 weeks without a hoover would kill me! have you asked if they can loan you one?
  • It's really frustrating. Wish I had bought from Argos as they are so good about returns. I did ask if I could have a replacement while mine is being assessed but they said no. Will need to try and make other arrangements. Fingers crossed it is only for 3 weeks.

Have you asked the Comet store manager if they have a display hoover you can loan?

Or even see if the store cleaner has a spare!

I rather suspect Argos would have done the same thing.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
