Changing phone provider

I looked at the Money Saving Expert website for prices of phone/broadband providers and decided to change from BT to Talk Talk, reducing my monthly payment from £56.50 to £36.54
Whilst on the phone to Talk Talk the sales person said he would connect mt to BT to obtain a migration code number, and he would stay on the line but was not allowed to say anything. When I asked BT for the migration code they came with all sorts of tempting offers to keep my custom, and their final offer was £21.90 per month with further reductions every 10 months.
Remember, all this time the Talk Talk person is listening in. I really didn't know what to do so I took the migration code and am now with Talk Talk.
Should I have taken the BT offer and is it too late to do so ?

If you turned down a £21.90/month deal and took a £36.54/month deal, I think you may have entirely missed the MSE concept.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Have you actually completed the migration process? A MAC relates to broadband only and is valid for only 30 days. If TT have not commenced the migration then you might be able to stop it. If you have migrated then you are already locked into TT for 18 or 24 months. No free lunch, and no free laptop

It sounds like a great tactic by talktalk, for exactly this purpose - make the caller feel as though they have to go with them regardless of what BT can counter-offer. Personally I would have requested to call BT myself.0

Hi jrstearn,
Its only to late to cancel with TalkTalk if you are with 48 hours of your live date for services. Have you been given a live date as yet? If you want to cancel the orders you can call retentions on 0870 444 1820 or if you have an account number for your TalkTalk services you can register and post at https://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums and we can see where the orders are upto for you.
Cheers

Another dubious sales tactic from TalkTalk, they must have a whole department thinking them up.0
