Rented furnished flat about to become unfurnished

I'd really appreciate some advice. Myself and a friend moved into an unfurnished flat on a joint tenancy agreement almost a year ago. Our renewal is coming up and she has decided to not renew as she now wishes to live by herself again. Fair enough! However, when we moved in the flat was unfurnished and she has a house she cannot sell in another city so moved all her furniture in here - which solved her problem of not needing storage and mine of not needing to buy furniture. However, as she's moving out I'll need to furnish the apartment and wondered the cheapest way to go about this! I am already a a member (of 2 hours!) of the local freecycle and was hoping a few ideas of cheap places to find furniture may be available on this forum! I'm willing to renovate and consider car boots and 2nd hand etc, although buying a new bed would be preferable. I also have to consider renting out the spare room and need a bit of advice regarding that...easy to rent as unfurnished or easier to put furniture in first? Many thanks for your help and advice x

probably easier to rent with furniture in
keep it simple bed drawers wardrobe
then there is room for who ever rents
it to add their own bits.Ther are loads
of places to find cheap furniture, charity shops
get lots of good stuff ,also Cash Convertors
we have had some really good things from there.
Most people looking for a room dont really want
to start thinking of buying furniture.

  • For new things Ikea do a lot of cheap bits n bobs.

Find out if you have a local community furniture project in you area. They supply furniture and white goods - 2nd hand but all checked over - for a very low price.

How will you be renting this out ?
is it going to be a full joint tenancy
or are you renting out the room ?
