Another point is that there are a lot of sad souls over there too, whom for some strange reasons, can not hide their disapointment that the recession is not deeper, banks are not failling as they hoped, and more people are not being repo'ed.

As much as I feel for those that can't buy for whatever reason, the people you describe above I can only wish a lifetime of unhappiness upon.

This is the thing. I don't care what happened 12-18 months ago. Personally I just wanted to discuss the enconomy without it having to turn into an inevitable argument every time.

You go on about "I' was right" a lot. You were only right because of economic policy, and you never ever predicted that. So purlease, shutup about being right. You were not right, you were lucky, that is all.

We are all adults here, but it's like a bad version of Kindergarten. I have had some time to sit back and watch the board, and I have to say, I am ashamed to have been part of the arguments. Why? Because they are so obsesively and utterly pathetic.

This is another example. Poor Dan from 12-18 months ago, so now must stand up ans shout "rooooar, we defeated the bears".

You didn't defeat anyone, you drove them away through boredom, irritation and an embarrasment to be associated with the board and the insesant context changing and arguing points based on what was changed.

This could be a great place, and it was when I joined, thats why I joined, and was for a good few months up until around April this year.

All the bears are pretty much gone, so todays threads have consisted of setups to form an argument as it's been a bit slow. I've sat and watched, and honestly if you get the chance, do it. We, all of us who contribute, look absolutely pathetically childish.

I'm now on HPC if anyone would like to join. I'm learning a fair bit more than I was here, and thats what I came here for, to learn, because only learning can put you in a better position in future. Didn't come here to be called stupid, an apponent, loser, and a variety of other desperate attempts to try and "create" an image of who I was.....i.e. a renter who can't afford a home etc etc etc.

I've chosen HPC to pick up and digest information now. I'm still here reading, no doubt will pop up now and then. But not going back to the pathetic, obsessional arguments.

    Oh come off it Graham.

You only ever wanted to hear one side of the argument. Anytime inconvenient truths were pointed out you simply ignored them, and carried on as before. That's why you've joined HPC, so you can hear only the stuff you want to hear.
You're one of the people incapable of listening to contrary evidence and weighing it up on its merits, and yes there people on both sides who do that.

Your holier than thou posting is frankly laughable.

The thread had absolutely nothing to do with closing HPC but that's for your efforts to flame bears nonetheless.

most of those 'bears' have been discredited and come on here now with new user names... don't they Shaker? ;)

i'd rather have a balanced view of things instead of everyone telling us that the UK is bankrupt and the IMF are on the phone right now, house prices will still drop 70%, house price indexes are manipulated and the real unemployment figure is 15 million... etc... etc...

but if you don't come back Graham good luck over there - you'll be found out soon enough ;)

Why on earth would one member take it upon himself to suggest closing down the most vibrant part of the forum?

Talk about taking self-importance to the n'th degree.

I don't give a toss about house prices, largely because I own my home overseas and I'm not interested in it as an investment asset class. But this forum is more than just about house prices, and why one self-important poster would take it upon himself to set himself up as the form monitor is beyond me.

I used to Graham, but with my views, I get accused of being a debt-junkie, HPI Cheerleader or stuck in NE.

It gets on your nerves after a while

Dan I'm amazed you let anything nearlynew or shakerbaby says get "on your nerves".
They have consistently proven themselves to be posters of little value (no value?). They simply trot out their limited repertoire of soundbites as some sort of Pavlovian response to anything that challenges their preconceived ideas of how house prices and the economy at large will run for the next few years.

I agree with your sentiment about the board but I assumed that Dan was joking icon7.gif
