Oil for chopping board

Options
I have a new chopping board that needs oiling - is danish oil food safe or is there something else I should use? It doesn't say it isn't on the tin, nor does it say it is!

Thanks

Rachel

Id just use olive oil or normal cooking oil then you know its as safe as can be.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

    olive oil should be fine.

I have wooden worktops and use this on them which is safe to use on food surfaces:

I wouldn't use olive oil as it tends to go sticky after a few coats. The best thing to use is Lemon oil.It is food safe and smells great.Wood turners coat fruit bowls with it.Its based on Lemongrass
The only link I can put up is www.axminster.co.uk
They also do food safe oil too.
  • I have used Tung oil on my worktops and chopping boards and it works really well. It's a bit tougher than danish oil.
