OR interview query

Me again. As you can imagine my dining table looks like a bomb had dropped on the last five years of my life in paper.

Much of it has been used to complete SOA. Will start clearing it away tomorrow but was wondering what I could start to organise now in preparation for OR interview.

As a rough guide, what will they ask to see when I am interviewed?

Thanks
DP

I'm guessing payslips, bank statements, loan agreements if you have any. I wasn't asked for anything whilst others have been asked for all possible paperwork. Good luck.

  • Hi Doll Parts
    Had mine today

    Got asked
in my own words why i went bankrupt, reasons etc
    discussed my car
    discussed income and expenditure
discussed my debts and when I last used cards, what the loans were for, went in depth into a loan i took out in Mar 08, what the cards were for etc
    Discussed my house and BI
    Discussed nil tax code
    that about it really.

Mine lasted 34 minutes and that was with me running upstairs to find house insurance details and a fire alarm going off in their office (test!)

    hope that helps a bit

Mine was a face to face interview and lasted quite a while. I took along twelve months worth of statements for bank, credit cards and any loans I had.

Although the interview was lengthy, the examiner was very pleasant. I was not asked anything at all about my SOA, and he seemed to very quickly come to the conclusion that if my business had not been adversly effected by the current climate, then I would still be paying my credit committments even though they were large. His actual words were "I expect you will be wanting me to exempt your vehicle" to which I replied yes, and it was agreed :) (value just under the £2,000).

He spent some time explaining that I was not allowed to act as a director whilst bankrupt and explained that whatever business I set up, it must be in my name and not a trading name (I think that this was maybe because my company was quite well known and he thought I might try to gain something from the name awareness). I explained that I was going to be doing very little for a year and would be using the time to take stock and reflect, relying on part time ad hoc income to keep the wolf from the door. Nonetheless he reminded me that I must let him know if I was going to earn more than my estimate.

We discussed the BI in my home and he explained the process as regards negative equity. However, he was keep to point out that if the valuation showed any equity, he would want payment of the whole lot - no percentage deals to be done.

Te whole process was so easy that I still have this dread that it was too easy and there is something waiting to bite us round the corner.

    Hi Tinytim

I have my OR Interview on 11 September and it's a face to face one. Do they do this as a matter of course if you are self employed?

It sounds as though I am in similar situation to you - I have been a self employed recruitment consultant and the climate just killed my business. I am so nervous about the interview and most of the people on this forum tend to have telephone interviews - any further info or advice that you can give me would be very welcome.

I must add that my business was the main cause of the BR - the tax and vat in particular but that I also had a personal loan and CC - was your situation similar and if so, how much attention was paid to your personal account rather than your business one? I have so many questions and any advice you can give me will be very gratefully received.

Hi tadsa. Yes, I think a lot of self employed people have a f2f interview - I did and must say I preferred it to a phone call. It is nothing to worry about and if you can't remember anything just say so.
