2 trains cancelled ? claim off both ? or 1 ? which 1?
ok so both trains got cancelled last week friday coming cardiff to b'ham new street.
1st train came on time then was told it was cancelled because of "no staff" so i waited 60mins for next one then the 2nd one went to newport then got cancelled due to the same no staff reason, then i thought ill wait for the 3rd one, then that came and the driver said it might get cancelled in Gloster, so i thought eff this called up a friend he picked took me to b'ham,
called up trainline (bought the tickets off them) they said something about it not being their issue take it up with the train provider,..
So now what do i do..1 train was crosscountry, and I think the other was arriva (how do i find out which train it was? passed delays data etc ?
never had to do this before,

The compensation is determined by calculating "the-time-you-finally-arrived MINUS the-time-you-should-have-arrived"..
It's as easy as that..
And you claim against the company which initially caused your delay.. So if you arrived in Newport on a First Great Western service that pulled in too late to catch the Arriva Trains Wales to Piccadilly, and that delay meant you had to take the next train which was also late, and so you arrived even later (whew!) then you would file your compo claim with the TOC that initially created the disaster: First Great Western.
I think you usually need a delay of one hour minimum to get compensation, and it is usually paid in travel vouchers. These are often more generous than if you demanded your compensation in cash.
As for finding the TOC that was operating the delayed services.. you will need to check nationalrail.co.uk.. use the day of the week, and the times of your journey as your guide, and obtain the details of the same journey, but a week to the day. From that you should work out which TOC was running which train, and the ETAs, etc..
I got nearly £3 in compensation when I complained after a train that never arrived. I was forced to sleep overnight on a bench on platform 2 of Newport station (very cold place, the wind blows up the estuary).
Good luck!0 -

But is that £3 a typo ?
Opps,.. just to say they gave me price of the ticket back, pretty lame,.0
