UKPC Parking Charge

Before seeing this article I received a "civil traffic enforcement notice" from UKPC which was issued in a Tescos car park for parking my car in a mother and child space but my vehicle was parked to one side on the yellow lines/hatched area. Whilst I agree I did do this, I did not obstruct the vehicle at this side from opening and closing its doors, nor was there any signs in the car parking area to say you may receive a fine for this.

The fine is payable at £30 within 14 days or after increases to £70. I wrote a letter of appeal in the timeframe but some weeks later have not received a reply regarding this. I did try to telephone but was told to call back the next week. This is when I saw this article. I have now decided to ignore the notice and received a final reminder.

Should I sit this one out - surely it will cost more to take any action against me. Does this fall into the category of those parking companies which issue fines which can be ignored or have I jepordised this?

Just ignore them. They will never take you to court. The only money they can claim back from you is for material loss. In this case it was a big fat nothing.

On a side note those so-called "special" spaces have no legal standing in private car-parks. They could just as well paint some bays with "reserved for people with size 7 feet".

Also, they are not "fines", just unenforceable invoices.

Why dont they have spaces if I have my pets with me?

My goldfish have always wanted to come shopping with me but I always have to park too far from the shop to be able to get them out of their tank and into the shop before they run out of water.

hello everybody i have a quick question i was shopping in merry hill dudley i recieved a notification of unauthorised parking from UKPC. the box ticked as vehical causing obstruction. i admit i did park the whole of my car on the pavement however it wasnt obstructing any car or any person trying to get into their cars so it was causing no obstruction.

just wondering if i should pay for it or not?

Don't pay and ignore any correspondence from them. For reassurance please read all the threads on here about private parking companies.
