It might be worth having a word with your local CAB. If you are facing financial hardship then you may be able to ask the bank to freeze the interest on the accounts. I found the CAB very helpful when I was having problem paying off my debts.
Take a deeeeeeep breath and stay positive. There is often a way to sort these things out :)

Hey redbull, don't let it get to you. A lot of the banks/building societies are starting to do this.
At Lloyds you can get an account with an authorised overdraft free but with a £12per month charge for the account but they do others. If you go over the overdraft limit you get charged between £6 - £15 per day.
The Abbey do accounts with authorised overdraft facility of around £500 pcm.
It may be worth researching on the internet as most of the banks have now amended their charging systems so you should be able to compare at many of the banks and building societies.
If you have debts and you aren't afraid of setting up agreed reduced payments you can apply to the companies and ask to be put on their harship programmes.
There are some threads on the main MSE site that deal with this type of thing.
I have had some success for some family members and a nieghbour doing this and they pay £5pcm off thier debt with no interest added.

Try to stay positive it looks blacker still if you cry, hard I know and easy to say but it can help/work.

    Keep your chin up.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

    Hi redbull

I've had a quick search on MSE and there's a long thread discussing the new HBOS account charges here. There's also something else here, which is a discussion thread, so may be of more relevance?

I hope you can get something sorted out - do take care (( hugs ))
