Hi,
I am a fully time student and I am dyslexic.
I have a lappy provided by the LEA but its just too heavy to really carry round as I am a weakling!
Anyway I am thinking of a samsung as I need a long battery life, I want to work at the uni with the netbook without the agro of power supply as I have to sit where the ligt is right:o ( I have irlens, which is perception problems). I will need to upload some of my soft wear, I am not sure what yet, but will need good memory etc.
So I need something that has the following built in wireless , stylish, light weight, quick on the net, advanced features and long battery, something that wont let me down.
Basically I would like something that will do the job and do it well. I rely very heavly on my pcs so they need to be top performers but not mega mega expensive as I have to pay for it out of my studnet loan.
Many thanks!

Yes, well; very interesting. I'm sure we all hope you find a nice one.
Or are you asking for somebody here to give you one?
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Too late for this to be of use for you, but for future reference or if anyone else if getting a laptop/PC from their LEA (I think it's just the local authority now? changed recently), you don't have to have the one they suggest, you can put some of your own money towards it to upgrade it, to get a lighter or faster one.0

I have no idea why it necessary to be sarcastic. It's clear what the OP is asking.
The main thing to bear in mind is that netbooks are not "top performers" - the processors will handle basic stuff but they are less powerful than usual laptop processors. They also don't have cd/dvd drives so you might need a plan to load software, such as buying an external drive.0 -

Most of the bad, and sometimes disastrously wrong, advice that is disbursed liberally in this sub-forum is caused by people simply "assuming" things instead of ascertaining what the OP is actually on about, and what the facts are.
In this case, the OP entitled her thread: "I need a good netbook, please."
You claim she was "asking" something. If you can identify a single question posed in what she posted, please would you do so.
Or have you no mental discipline and simply "assume" things? If so, you embrace precisely the intellectual laxity that has recently bankrupted this country.
Whilst about it, you may wish to express an opinion as to why the laziness of this OP to read any of the hundred other threads here that have addressed - and offered excellent advice upon - this very same topic should be indulged and why she is entitled to be spoon-fed an individual solution to her problem when others have the courtesy to consult, read and participate in existing threads.
Just how many identical threads is it reasonable to expect :A Martin Lewis :A to host at his personal expense for the benefit of the indolent?

The Samsung netbooks are a good wee machines, very portable.
I bought the NC10 back in April for £245 in a good deal and have had no problems with it so far, battery lasts about 6-7 hrs with normal usage.
As it has been pointed out by another poster they are not as powerfull as laptops but excellent for the internet and general usage.
Be aware though that Samsung have just brought out an NC10 with a 3 cell battery and quite a few buyers have been caught out thinking it was a 6 cell battery so double check which battery it comes with if you intend to buy one.
You also can purchase a 9 cell battery for the Samsung which can give you upto 10-11 hrs usage. you can find more info about various Samsung netbooks in the sammynetbook forum.
You mentioned that the laptop you have just now is heavy, is it a 15 or 17" size?0 -

Thanks for the helpful posts
Those that were deliberately less helpful
I will take all the useful comments on bored, it does sound like a samsung would be useful, thanks for pointing out the battery difference also.
My lappy is a 15 inch which seems fine, I had hoped to be able to use it as a portable option but its just far too heavy for me, hence the netbook questions. I was aware of the LEA upgrade but I some how missed out on that option...
Cheers for the helpful imput.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
